Lidey Heuck landed the most plum after-college job—working for Ina Garten in her East Hampton kitchen. There, she learned how to develop recipes that work every time and how to put together dishes that are at once special and unfussy.

Cooking in Real Life represents the golden middle ground that new and experienced home cooks crave: recipes that are inventive but not overly complicated, that use familiar ingredients but encourage us to do things a little bit differently. They are designed to be low-effort, practical, and high-reward. Lidey combines straight-forward delicious cooking with innovative, vegetable-forward recipes, inspired by bold flavors from near and far. Chapters and recipes include the following:

Busy, fuss-free weeknights: Salmon with Honey and Chili Crunch, Cider-Glazed Sausages with Apples and Fennel, Saucy Shrimp alla Vodka. Plus, dozens of ideas for turning single recipes into one complete meal (Think: adding some sauteed shrimp to Shaved Carrot Salad with Ginger Tahini Dressing).

Flexible, seasonally-inspired recipes with easy-to-find ingredients: Maple-Roasted Squash with Grapes and Shallots, Escarole with Cara Cara Oranges, Spicy Paloma Punch.

Celebratory dishes for occasions that call for something extra special: Short Ribs with Port, Shallots, and Cranberries; Champagne Chicken; and Rainbow Sprinkle Ice Cream Cake.

Throughout, Lidey includes swaps, make-ahead hacks, and tips for making leftovers into something new. Cooking in Real Life meets you where you are—whether you’re here for the practical tips or the endless possibilities.

Return & Exchange Policy

ONLINE RETURN POLICY:

We want you to LOVE your purchase! We will happily accept returns/exchanges postmarked within 14 days of purchase on unworn, unused new products with original tags attached.

In order to return your item(s), please email us directly at info@shopepergne.com or call the store at 615-840-6341 for shipping instructions on all returns/exchanges. Let us know you are sending an item/items back so we can be on the lookout for the shipment. Please let us know if you would like to exchange the item so we can check and reserve inventory.

Please note:

  • Refunds are credited to the original form of payment
  • Returns will be processed 3-5 business days after Epergne receives the item(s). Bank issued credit cards may take 5-7 business days for the refund to post to your account.
  • Shipping charges are not refunded
  • Exchanges are processed as inventory allows and customers will be charged for the additional shipping of the exchanged item(s).
  • ALL DISCOUNTED or SALE ITEMS are "FINAL SALE"and CANNOT be exchanged or returned.
  • Customers are responsible for the shipping on all returns and exchanges.

IN-STORE RETURN POLICY:

Because we offer an approval program (where customers are allowed to take items to try at home for 24 hours before purchasing if they provide Epergne with credit card details), items may be exchanged or returned for STORE CREDIT within 14 business days of purchase with original receipt or 30 days with a gift receipt. Store credit is good for 1 year. NO cash, check, or credit card refunds will be given. Returned items must be unworn/unused with any original tags attached/intact. DISCOUNTED or SALE items are FINAL SALE and cannot be exchanged or returned.

HOLIDAY RETURN POLICY:

Merchandise purchased between November 18, 2024 and December 25, 2024 must be returned by January 25, 2025 for STORE CREDIT. Store Credit must be used within 1 year of return date.
